All you need is an HDMI port and touchscreen in your car

Microsoft is currently working to bring more of its technologies in cars (including personal assistant Cortana), but in the meantime, the existing features of Windows 10 Mobile leave the door open for in-car functionality too.

WindowsCentral has reported about a Windows 10 Mobile user who managed to connect his phone to the in-car display and thus see the operating system on the screen.

The whole trick is possible with Continuum, so this implies having an HDMI port in your car. If your vehicle does not have such a connector, you’re out of luck because this is the only way to connect the phone to the screen for the moment.

Obviously, touch input is also needed in order to really make the most of Windows 10 Mobile in your car, so yes, having the right hardware is quite critical for this experiment.

But on the other hand, as you can see in this photo, Windows 10 Mobile’s ability to fit screens of different sizes is what makes it just perfect to be used on a car display, so it’s probably just a matter of time until more people start connecting their phones to in-vehicle screens.

Without a doubt, there’s more potential in this idea, so hopefully Microsoft itself will look into this and find easier ways to connect Windows 10 Mobile devices to car displays in the future.
