OpenVPN for Windows 10 is the community’s latest request

If they can’t bring Pokemon Go on Windows 10 Mobile, the Windows Phone community decided to focus on something that’s more doable, so their next target is now OpenVPN.

As a long-time Windows Phone user who needs OpenVPN to connect to the corporate network, I must admit that this is one of the most important setbacks from sticking with the platform, so some improvements in this regard could really come in handy.

An official OpenVPN solution for Windows phones is now being requested by users in the community, although nobody can tell for sure whether there’s any chance to see it working on Windows 10 Mobile, given the new restrictions that Microsoft has introduced in the operating system.

On the other hand, if the API is not closed, and Microsoft isn’t the only one that can add VPN providers in Windows 10 Mobile, then OpenVPN has the door open to bring its official client on the platform, especially since so many users seem to be needing it.

For the moment, there’s still no response from the OpenVPN development team, so nobody can tell for sure if they are at least looking into ways to bring the client on Windows 10 Mobile. What we know for sure is that users want it, and this reddit discussion thread is rapidly gaining upvotes, so more Windows Phone fans are likely to show their support in the coming days.
