DirectX 10 for Windows XP is a library of utilities and components that can help Windows XP users run DirectX 10-based software on their computers, whether it's an advanced game or a complex application we're talking about.

Micosoft’s DirectX is a collection of APIs that were designed to facilitate the execution and also good functioning of various programs that are abundant in multimedia elements such as cutscenes, video clips, audio clips or even images.

Since the last versions of DirectX are exclusively compatible with operating systems that are superior to Windows XP, fans of this operating system are facing multiple limitations in launching applications that work only with the latest versions of Microsoft’s runtime.

As expected, unofficial projects were released, with the purpose of porting DirectX 10/11 to operating systems lesser than Windows Vista. One of them is DirectX 10 for Windows XP, a customized version of Microsoft’s DirectX that is easy to install and requires no additional setup or complicated configuration whatsoever.

Although the title of the software may trick you into thinking that this package was built exclusively for Windows XP, it will also work on Windows 2000 and 2003 if you'd rather implement it on those operating systems.

The installation process itself shouldn't take long but that depends on the computer you're trying to deploy it on. Following the deployment, a window prompts you to open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (DirectX Diag) in order to check that the package was successfully installed on your PC.

If the DirectX version field shows that version 10 is present on the system, you can proceed to accommodating advanced multimedia applications and games.

To wrap it up, this package is a solution for users who are still faithful to their Windows XP computers and don't want to upgrade to newer operating systems just because DirectX is no longer supported on XP.
