Portable BatteryCare

Portable BatteryCare aims to assist you in taking the proper actions to significantly prolong the life of your laptop's battery. Aside from monitoring its status, it helps you track the discharge cycles and notifies you when its is time to perform a full discharge to keep the battery gauge calibrated.

The main purpose of this application is to optimize the battery usage, with direct consequences on its longevity and the overall performance of the laptop.

Once installed, the application is automatically sent to the system tray, allowing you to configure its behavior using the right-click menu. The main window comprises detailed information concerning the battery status (its capacity, the remaining time), as well as data regarding the discharge cycles and the last calibration date.

It allows you to keep an eye on the CPU and HDD temperature and view the battery model and manufacturer, consumption, its designed, current and total capacity, tension and wear level.

Right-clicking on the tray icon allows the immediate change of the power plan your laptop currently uses. There are three alternatives to choose from, namely 'Balanced', 'High Performance' and 'Power Saver', each suitable for different situations, depending on the programs you launch.

There are a few features that you can suspend while running on battery, since they require more system resources and affect the battery lifetime. These include the sidebar gadgets and the visual effects given by Windows Aero, as well as some Windows services that increase the energy consumption, such as SearchIndexer, ReadyBoost or SuperFetch. Pausing these services has no impact on the system security.

This application is a special version of BatteryCare that does not require installation and does not leave traces in the system registry. It is a must-have utility for laptop users who want to take better care of the battery and increase its autonomy.
