Alarm Viewer

Computers are often used daily and sooner or later errors are likely to happen, with more chances to occur as time goes on, yet system messages can be difficult to track and often need to be dismissed to continue. Alarm Viewer is a Java application that allows users to display and manage any system errors and warning alarms, under various categories, with the alarms details and properties.

The design of Alarm Viewer is quite clear, the three main categories are listed in bright green and are immediately visible. There is a specific area for Fatal, Error and Warning, with additional tools and options, with a toolbar and menus also available.

Users can choose to change the display to a live update of the system and how it is currently performing, or the archived list of all previous errors. There is extra text on the main window, listing the date, time and error severity, providing users with extra detail about the error reports, including the previous ones.

There are several additional settings in Alarm Viewer, from how the information is displayed, to what systems can be accessed via the program. Users can enable hidden systems to be included in the available areas to view reports from, or users can manually select different areas to include.

When the warning alerts are concerned, users can enable an audible alert when reports are generate. The information included in the different categories can be filtered, to customize the amount / type of information that is displayed.

Since Alarm Viewer is a Java based application, it is relatively simple to both install and use, making it user friendly, despite the fact it can handle deep system error messages that users might not know how to access. It is a reliable and useful tool for those who want more details on the type of problems that can occur in a computer and its various subsystems.
