An antivirus product whose main purpose is to detect and remove malware from any system using daily virus database updates in order to locate threats. #Malware scanner #Virus remover #Antivirus software #Antivirus #Malware #Virus
AVANSI Antivirus is a security solution that claims to have the power to detect and remove malware such a viruses, Trojans and adware from your computer.
It is a relatively new addition to the antivirus software market and we’re truly hoping this is the reason why it disappoints on so many levels.
According to the presentation text on its homepage, AVANSI Antivirus exceeds the power of most antivirus products, which is misleading and completely inaccurate.
Although it’s wrapped up inside a cool and user-friendly appearance, AVANSI Antivirus sports a very poor feature set under its hood, one that doesn’t shield your computer from malware and can’t protect it against the myriad of threats out there.
AVANSI Antivirus cannot compete with the average antivirus product, because of its lack of functionality and abilities to actively monitor your computer.
As opposed to other security products that offer multiple types of scan, this one delivers only one, allowing you to select the resource to be scanned instead of providing various scenarios.
Aside from the fact that the array of settings offered for customization is very poor, there are also features that are made available only in the PRO (paid) version, like the rootkit detector.
There are a few complementary tools included in the application, such as a process manager, performance info utility and a few shortcuts to Windows built-in utilities gathered under the name of ‘AVANSI Tools’.
Even though it uses a local virus database, which it downloads from the developer’s website in order to detect threats, our tests showed that AVANSI Antivirus can’t spot even the most popular threats.
It failed to pass our test, which involved scanning an EICAR file in order to assess the product’s capabilities. It returned zero alerts, despite the fact that we tried to scan it several times, with the virus database up to date.
Overall, we’re expecting major improvements for AVANSI Antivirus in the future, hoping that it will rise above this insufficient and weak attempt.
