PestPatrol is an anti-spyware tool that picks up where the anti-virus left off. It detects and removes spyware, worms, trojans, droppers, probe tools, and many others.

The application's interface is easy to navigate through, for both rookies and power users.

Scanning options include a standard scan (quickly scans locations where malicious agents typically hide), and a custom scan (performs the standard scan but also scans the partitions and folders you have selected).

The standard scan also analyzes the computer's memory and cookies, as well as registry entries.

Unfortunately, the options to schedule a scan and to perform a custom scan are only available in the full version of the product.

Additionally, a scan history shows the last time and date when PestPatrol performed a scan, as well as the number of previously detected pests and items.

Our tests can only be made on the standard scan. PestPatrol finishes the job extremely fast, and gives us the possibility to exclude or quarantine selected pests (it found three malicious agents in our case).

In Advanced Settings you can configure the update options, prevelence options and sounds, as well as manage quarantined pests (they can be either deleted or restored), excluded pests and log settings.

Configuring Active Protection is yet another option only available in the purchased version of PestPatrol.

The application uses a fair amount of CPU and system memory, and its help file is well organized.

In conclusion, we would have liked to test more functions of PestPatrol, but the trial version is, sadly too limited. Then again, the full version price is affordable.
