Virus Detector 1.0.2005
Virus Detector is a very powerfull spyware, firewall protection tool
Since it’s more like a security suite, you probably expect a complex interface with lots of configuration options and advanced features.
Well, no, Virus Detector is not that kind of security product. Instead it comprises just a limited number of features and lacks many important ones, so it clearly loses ground in the battle against the important players in this industry.
Virus Detector can monitor user-defined files on your computer and detect any change that might occur in the file size, as well as new and deleted files, registry entries and other dangerous modifications.
The minimal interface is being used to provide access to its rather simple options, with a “Scan” button and a log panel displayed in the main window to let you check the system and see the infected files with ease.
While the real-time protection is quite weak, Virus Detector has no definition update feature, which means it cannot provide protection against the latest security threats on the Internet.
Instead, it comes with a great amount of configuration options concerning the protection and the scanning features it provides, letting you keep an eye on the registry and even monitor network traffic.
While it runs on low resources, it’s pretty clear that Virus Detector falls behind the majority of security products now available on the market. It even has compatibility problems with Windows 7, running OK however on Windows XP.
All things considered, Virus Detector is a tool to avoid, especially because it doesn’t comprise an effective protection engine to keep your computer on the safe side.
