Kaspersky VirutKiller

VirutKiller is a command-line application that scans computers for the Virus.Win32.Virut.ce botnet client and removes it on sight. It does not require experience in antivirus software.

Most users work with graphical interfaces for performing a task easily, but some of them prefer command-line tools, since a few written lines in a Command Prompt dialog are suffice to get the job done fast.

VirutKiller does not require installation, so you can run it from any location on the hard disk. You can also save it to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any workstation with minimum effort.

An important aspect to take into account is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and files are not left behind after removing the tool.

Once the process is called, VirutKiller verifies threads, processes, hooks and drives. If found, the virus is immediately eliminated on sight.

As expected, VirutKiller runs on a very light amount of CPU and RAM, so it doesn't interrupt normal user activity or cause performance issues. We have not come across any problems, since the app did not hang or crash. VirutKiller serves its purpose.
