Blu-ray to HDD is an application that enables you to export movies from Blu-ray discs to your computer and convert them to the desired format. Since the aforementioned discs support full HD resolutions and lossless DTS and 7.1 audio streams, ripping their content can be quite time consuming, depending on the speed of your Blu-ray reader device.

As for the output formats, which affect the final quality of the videos, you can choose between MKV or TS, which are the recommended formats for HD movies, in order to offer you high fidelity and very little quality loss in the conversion. Both of them come with various advantages and disadvantages, but you have to pay attention to your player's list of supported formats before making a choice.

If you are not interested in the whole contents of the disc, Blu-ray to HDD allows you to choose from the list of available movie chapters and export only the desired part. The same is true for the audio streams, in case there are multiple voice-overs available.

The list of included subtitles is also displayed and you can choose which ones to keep and which ones to drop from the final movie. The application enables you to convert TrueHD sound to AC3 and DTS-HD to simple DTS, if you want to further reduce the size of the resulting video file.

Blu-ray to HDD is a fully-featured ripper and converter, with enough features to enable lossless export for any kind of HD movie. One annoying disadvantage, on the other hand, is the fact that the Blu-ray discs need to have their protection removed before you are allowed to export them on your computer, since the application cannot do this by itself.
