XBoxBurner is a straightforward software application designed for creating Xbox and Xbox 360 images. It supports the ISO, IMG and CDR formats for the input, and can be easily handled, even by users with less or no experience in similar programs.
This is a portable piece of kit, which means that installation is not a prerequisite. After extracting the archive contents to a folder, you can simply run the executable file.
Furthermore, you can save XBoxBurner to a USB flash drive or other similar storage unit, and run the application on any computer. What's more important is that Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and files cannot be found on the hard drive after deleting the utility.
XBoxBurner's GUI is represented by a standard window with a well-defined layout, where there are no other options available, aside from the ones visible in the main frame.
Opening an image file from the hard drive is possible with the courtesy of the file browser, since "drag and drop" is unsupported. After establishing the burning device, you can select the layer break and speed, make the DVD compact and proceed with the burning session. In addition, you can check the device's availability, reset all settings to their default values, as well as view log details, which can be either copied to the Clipboard or saved to a LOG file.
The burning program is pretty low-demanding considering the resource consumption, so it shouldn't slow down the user's activity on the computer. It has a good response time and takes a reasonable amount of time to complete a job. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or notify us of any errors. Although it has not been updated for a pretty long while, XBoxBurner offers a quick solution to creating Xbox and Xbox 360 game images, thanks to its intuitive layout.
