Lightweight and portable software application that can be used to open, view, create and edit video game PAK file archives easily
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can just drop the executable file anywhere on the hard disk and click it to run.
Alternatively, you can move PakViewer to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, to run it on any machine with minimum effort.
What's more, the Windows Registry does not get new entries, and leftover files are not kept on the hard disk after program removal.
The interface is based on a standard window with a plain layout, where you can import items using either the file browser or drag-and-drop support.
It is possible to add and extract files from archives, as well as associate PakViewer with the PAK format. Creating a new PAK item implies specifying an output directory and file name.
The application is very light on the system resources, using a minimal amount of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works smoothly on newer OS platforms, without causing the OS to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation. Thanks to its overall simplicity, PakViewer should please all users.
