Softpedia Editor's Review for Quick Zip
|
A handy archiver that can open and extract numerous types of archives
Written by Elena Opris on January 13th, 2012
Quick Zip is a software that can compress and extract archived files of various formats.
The user interface of the program is clean and intuitive, thanks to its Explorer-based layout.
So, you can browse for archives and open the context menu to access ZIP operations.
You can extract the files to a specific location, insert a password if the file is encrypted, as well as test the archive and check out its contents. When it comes to compressing files, you can select the ZIP or 7ZIP format.
In addition, you can browse media and access the "Organize" menu to use basic file managing tools, such as "New" (window, folder or archive), "Copy", "Paste", "Select All", "Delete" and "Properties".
Furthermore, you can configure general and external applications settings. So, you can enable Quick Zip to prompt for updates whenever they are available, use "7z.dll" to handle archives, disable Aero Windows and adjust the user interface scale, as well as clear the cache.
External editors can be used to open a file in a folder or archive. You can add a new item and input supported extensions, open command and description.
Quick Zip uses a very high amount of system memory. We haven't come across any problems during our tests and the tool is easy to handle by users of any experience level.
On the other hand, you cannot configure compression settings and the program doesn't include a help file. Even so, we strongly recommend Quick Zip if you prefer a simple way to compress files and unzip archives.
