ZipZag - handles ZIP, 7ZIP, ACE, BZ2, CAB, DEB, GCA, GZ, JAR, LZH, PK3, RAR, RPM, TAR
Written by Elena Opris on January 10th, 2012
ZipZag is a compression tool that you can use to archive files and extract content from them.
Once you initiate the application, you can set file associations and paths, as well as change compression properties in the "Configuration" window.
The interface of ZipZag is user-friendly, thanks to the Explorer-based layout.
So, you can convert an archive (e.g. 7-Zip, Bza, Deep Freezer, Squeeze), create a self-extracting archive (from Zip or 7-Zip) and change the viewing mode.
But you can also add and extract files in batch mode, span or unspan a Zip file, wipe files and folders, use the "drag and drop" method to move files from ZipZag to other applications, as well as easily access commands via the context menu (within the ZipZag interface).
In addition, you can merge archives, truncate file names, repair an archive, remove a known password, use "Map Network Drive", print or export contents, use a mail option, run, install, checkout, test or scan a file, and change the interface appearance.
The tool uses a low-to-moderate amount of system resources, contains a well-drawn help file and didn't freeze or crash during our tests. Furthermore, its response time is very good.
All in all, ZipZag is a great tool for managing archived files and incorporates a lot of useful functions. We strongly recommend it to users of any experience level.
