Cool Timer 3.7

Cool Timer is a simple countdown timer that also includes an alarm system to notify you when the time expires.

The interface is nothing special, but it’s impossible to get lost in it and it should all take just a few seconds to figure out how to use the program.

While the main window is not resizable, you can configure the look by changing the display colors in the settings menu. You can’t get rid of the unprofessional design however, but you can at least tweak it to better fit your desktop.

The options menu mostly concerns the alarm system which can also play a sound, be it a built-in audio file or another one that’s stored on the local disks. Cool Timer works with WAV, MP3 and MIDI files and can play the files in a loop or just a single time.

Cool Timer places an icon in the Windows System Tray that opens the main window of the application or closes it and stops the playing alarm. The good news is that although it’s supposed to run most of the time you’re working on the computer, the program is not at all a memory hog and remains very friendly with hardware resources.

On the other hand, it’s pretty clear that Cool Timer isn’t quite a handy piece of software, although some users need such a simple countdown timer. There are many other similar applications on the Internet, providing not only a much more appealing interface, but also more customization options and alarm settings.
