Metronome Timer is a small Windows application designed specifically for helping you place a countdown timer or stopwatch on your screen in order to help you time your reading speed.
The advantages of being portable
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to use a countdown timer or stopwatch on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.
You are welcomed by a clean and plain layout that allows you to carry out most operations with minimal effort. Everything is kept as simple and clear as possible, so even rookies can learn to master the entire process in no time.
Metronome Timer gives you the possibility to set the time value for the countdown timer or stopwatch, activate or deactivate the stopwatch, play audio alerts (ticks), enter the number of ticks per minute, and specify a custom value (in seconds) when the tool plays warnings. Additionally, you are allowed to emphasize the beat.
Since it doesn’t require much computer knowledge to set up the dedicated parameters, even rookies can learn to master the process in no time. During our testing we have noticed that Metronome Timer carries out a task quickly and provides good audio quality. It leaves a minimal footprint on system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
All in all, Metronome Timer proves to be a simple software application that helps you time your speed reading capabilities. However, it cannot be considered the most powerful utility on the market, as it lacks support for features that could help you play a user-defined audio file when the time is up and record your reading results in a log.
