Recurring Alarm Timer

Recurring Alarm Timer is a lightweight and portable software program with a very simple purpose. It lets you specify a countdown timer until playing a sound alert. This type of software can be useful for reminding yourself to take breaks from working, or to get back to work after a long break.

As there is no setup kit involved, you can save Recurring Alarm Timer's executable file anywhere on the hard drive and just click it to run. It's also possible to save it to a removable storage unit to directly launch it on any computer with minimum effort. Unlike most installers, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

At startup, the utility creates an icon in the system tray area. However, it doesn't get sent there on close, so you have to minimize it to the taskbar.

By default, the audio track it plays is a file that belongs to Windows. You can change it into something else by entering the file path, as well as set the countdown in hours, minutes and seconds.

The app becomes active as soon as you click the "Start" button. As the name implies, it plays a recurring alarm, so you can only stop it by clicking the corresponding button, exiting the tool, or pausing the script through the tray icon's right-click menu to be able to resume it later.

The sound path is saved on exit. Another aspect worth noting is that it creates an .ini file with the default configuration data in the same location as itself, so you can access it to modify the default audio file.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the program didn't freeze, crash or display error messages. Unsurprisingly, it had minimal impact on computer performance, as it required low CPU and memory to work properly.

However, Recurring Alarm Timer hasn't been updated for a long time and contains just some basic options. For example, it doesn't integrate a feature for setting up and managing multiple alarms. Nevertheless, it serves its purpose and can be easily used.
