There’s only so little time and so much to do a single day. However, everything can be planned, and knowing exactly how much time you spend on your tasks has its benefits. Luckily, timing your activities is easily performed on a computer, especially when you rely on applications like RicRac StopWatch.

You’re offered to have the application launched right after setup is done, which doesn’t take a lot of time. A pretty compact window shows up on the desktop, featuring a custom layout, but doesn’t really make it stand out from the crowd. It shows a timer with a set of controls to put it in motion, stop, and reset to start over.

Once started, it’s possible to minimize it to the tray area so you can see to your activities. There are a couple of methods to set the timer, such as a regular timer, or a countdown. To switch, you need to access the settings panel, which is either done at the press of a button, or via the tray icon menu.

Hitting the start button activates the timer, regardless of type. Although you can set hours, minutes, and seconds for the countdown timer, there’s no option to add an alert, not even a simple chime or message to show up on screen, which is rather disappointing.

The application can’t be set to run with Windows through any default feature. There’s an option to have it stay on top of everything else, in case time is of the essence in particular tasks. To quickly have the timer brought up on the desktop, a neat trick is to assign a hotkey command to the program’s shortcut.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that RicRac StopWatch is a pretty straightforward timer. Although it’s intuitive enough for both beginners and experienced individuals, the set of features overall feels a little rough around the edges.
