The advantages of being portable
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to check how much time you spend working on different projects on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.
The tool runs quietly in the system tray without interfering with your work. When called upon it reveals a small panel that embeds several buttons for helping you control the timer. In case you can’t get used to working with the small working environment, you may opt for the classic display.
In order to access the utility’s features you are required to perform a right-click mouse operation on the main panel or program’s icon from the system tray.
zTimer gives you the possibility to set up the countdown timer by choosing between several preset time values (from 3 minutes up to 1 hour), add extra time, as well as set up reminders by specifying the time (in minutes), entering a custom text message, and playing a loud sound notification.
What’s more, you can test the sound, turn the sound notification on or off, start or stop the timer, add or subtract time to/from your timer, check out an additional timer embedded in the main panel, as well as automatically pause the timer when the computer is locked.
During our testing we have noticed that zTimer carries out a task quickly. It doesn’t eat up a lot of CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer is not affected.
All in all, zTimer proves to be a straightforward piece of software that comes bundled with several handy features for helping you time various activities.
