Aqua Real 2
With the possibility to create various forms of 2D and 3D virtual art using specialized computer applications, experiences are abundant. In this regard, Aqua Real 2 attempts to throw you into the depths of the ocean while providing a high-quality rendered environment with fully-animated fish to observe and interact with.
Several highly-detailed ocean environments
After a simple installation process, running the application fills your screen with a visually appealing environment. Several fish species carry on with their routine under your close observation. There are a few different ocean layouts to choose from, each with animated corals and decorative elements.
What's more, there are even a few controls at your disposal so you don't feel like you're simply staring at a virtual aquarium. With the right tool selected, you can chase fish around and observe as they struggle to escape the mouse pointer's harassment.
A rich library of fish species
In case you're feeling notorious, there's always the possibility to send in a shark to patrol the area, but with no effect whatsoever on the creatures already swimming there. However, if you want to remove or add more fish, the application does a pretty good job at providing a decent amount of options.
Equipped with around twenty different species, the environment can be filled with a custom number of individuals from each type. In addition, all of them can easily be gathered at a specific location by dropping bits of food with a dedicated tool.
Customize environment behavior
All changes take effect in real time so you don't have to worry about launching the simulation each time you add or remove fish. Additional options let you import custom music and influence the environment by adjusting water currents or enable random shark encounters.
Unfortunately, you need to dedicate all of your time when using the application, with no export options whatsoever. Moreover, there's no implemented function to have the application or a specific environment triggered when your computer is idle to act as a screen saver.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Aqua Real 2 is a joyride for enthusiasts, but excitement wears off after the first few runs. Although environments are well-built and provide a high-quality rendered image, there's not much to do at the bottom of this virtual sea, with practicability being a key feature only if used as a pretty view on kiosks or monitors used for decorative display.
