Flickr Desktop Wallpaper allows you to create a dynamic desktop wallpaper, using random images from a Flickr account

editor's review

Flickr Desktop Wallpaper is one lightweight piece of software developed to change the desktop wallpaper using a Flickr account.

The whole idea this program is based on is actually pretty simple: you can use your Flickr images as desktop background, with Flickr Desktop Wallpaper taking care of the entire process.

What’s more, the application can automatically change the wallpaper at a configured interval, without asking for anything else beside the Flickr username.

A simple configuration screen takes care of everything and prompts you to input the Flickr user account to import photos from, enable shuffling and adjust the opacity of the desktop background. Of course, you can define the interval for automatically changing the wallpaper, again from the same configuration window.

The application can remain minimized to Tray and although it was developed to run all the time, it doesn’t hamper system performance in any way. Additionally, it gets along very well with all Windows versions and doesn’t require administrator privileges.

An Internet account is however needed to change the desktop wallpaper and we didn’t experience any speed decrease during our testing.

As a conclusion, Flickr Desktop Wallpaper is a handy tool, although users need many more customization options concerning the wallpaper. As the resolution of images posted on Flickr doesn’t always fit the desktop, dedicated options to stretch and fit the background could come in very handy to every single user.
