The main purpose of BTEWin is to provide an alternative to the use of classic DOS batch files in Windows(tm), supplying a set of functions specific for the new environment.
This program it's not trying to be the definitive scripting solution for the Windows environment, but to be as easy to use as possible but without renouncing to some advanced features like conditional scripting, automation, file patching, etc.
Daemon Tools, a well known CD/DVD emulator, is directly supported, so it's not necessary to run daemon.exe.
Here are some key features of "Vdesk BTEWin":
· Virtual desktop manager with 10 independent desktops. (Independent wallpapers are optionally supported).
· Screen resolution changer, like an improved quickres.
· Desktop locker with VESA DPMS screen blanker.
· Mounting disc images with Daemon Tools and executing BTEWin batch files using hotkeys is supported. Starting with version 2.30 Vdesk incorporates a full featured Daemon Tools frontend that also supports mounting/execution of BTEWin batch files passing the device number as a parameter.
· Wizard / editor for BTEWin batch files. For this reason both products are supplied in the same package.
Features 3 and 4 also work while running most games and full-screen apps.
Here are some Hotkeys:
· WIN + Up arrow: Toggle desktop up
· WIN + Down arrow: Toggle desktop down
· WIN + Left arrow: Pops manager dialog
· WIN + Right arrow: Pops manager dialog
· WIN+0 - WIN+9: Switches to desktop 0 - 9 (limited by the current maximum desktops)
· LWIN + F11: Turns on the monitor and unlocks the keyboard and the mouse
· LWIN + F12: Turns off the monitor and locks the keyboard and the mouse
· LWIN+F2 - LWIN+F9: Mounts the appropriate disc image using Daemon Tools or runs the desired BTEWin batch file
· LWIN means the left Windows key.
The first four are normal hotkeys, while the screen blanking keys and the disc images hotkeys use hooks. The option "Disable hotkeys" does not disable the hotkeys that use hooks.
