Windows Aero Switcher

Windows Aero Switcher is an application you can use to easily Windows Aero/Glass on and off with one click. It doesn't integrate a keyboard shortcut for this action.

The utility runs silently in the systray without showing any notifications, thus enabling you to carry on with your regular PC activity without any interruptions. The Aero effect is restored when exiting the tool.

This is a portable program, so there is no installation involved. It doesn't require any DLLs to run and doesn't create additional files on the disk without your permission.

You can drop the downloaded executable file in any preferred directory on the hard disk and just click it to launch Windows Aero Switcher. You can keep it stored on a USB flash drive for safekeeping, as well as for directly launching it on any computer to seamlessly disable the Aero.

Windows Aero is an OS enhancement introduced in Windows Vista and continued in Windows 7. In Vista, this is represented by a translucent glass effect applied to window borders, subtle animations when minimizing, maximizing and moving windows, Windows Flip 3D (Win+Tab), flip movements (Alt+Tab), taskbar live thumbnails, and Desktop Window Manager. Aero Peek, Shake and Snap, together with touch UI enhancements were added in Windows 7.
