Windows XP LogonUI Changer is a simple software solution that enables you to change the default Windows XP logon screen.
The application comes with all the features you need from such a tool, including the ability to download new welcome screens from the Internet, a “restore default” option and preview windows.
Windows XP LogonUI Changer allows you to add as many logon screens as you want and even if you use a single one, there's also the option to randomize both the logon screen and wallpaper on startup.
The application enables you to perform multiple operations with a given logon file, including deleting and renaming it, but it also enables to you change the wallpaper and information. Of course, you can import new files from your local hard disk, so everything's pretty straightforward.
Unfortunately, the “Download” function isn't exactly the tool you expect from such an app. While most users want to see a web-based interface and download new logon screens on the go, clicking “Download” actually gets you to a local folder comprising two different Internet shortcuts.
In other words, it's still the “Import” feature that does the job, so you need to check the two websites with your browser and pick a new welcome screen, download it and then import the file into the app.
Just like its name suggests, Windows XP LogonUI Changer works on Windows XP exclusively, so don't even think to try it on another iteration of the operating system, otherwise you may end up breaking it down.
Overall, Windows XP LogonUI Changer is a handy tool, but there are some things to be revised and new features to add.
