Born on October 13, 1980 in Glen Cove, New York Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas began her music career when she released her debut album Ashanti, in 2002. The album was successful and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. In 2003 Douglas released her second album Chapter II the album was as successful as the last on selling 3 million copies worldwide.

In 2003 Douglas released the album Ashanti's Christmas and in 2004 the album Concrete Rose and in 2005 Douglas released the album Collectables by Ashanti. Soon, she extended her talent to acting and appeared in the movies The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, Coach Carter, Resident Evil: Extinction and John Tucker Must Die.
