Dungeons, towers, and medieval looking fireplaces are some of the elements that attract us to the idea of living in Middle Ages. Crystal Fireplace 3D Screensaver combines several of the aspects mentioned above and adds a fantastic twist that will make you think you're playing a Medieval-themed RPG.

The app is starting to show its age, as most surfaces that should be round are blocky and full of edges, and the textures are a bit pixelated. On the other hand, these inconveniences are also what gives this app its particular charm, as it can easily remind any players of famous RPG games from the early 2000's. The crystal's reflections are done nicely and realistically, while the fire and red-hot coal also bring a sense of warmth to anyone watching them. This feeling is further enhanced by the faded blue light that is coming from outside, which give the impression of either dusk, dawn, or a cold winter day.

For all its graphics, the app does take a toll on your system's resources, as during testing in animated wallpaper mode the FPS was much lower than in screensaver mode, and it caused most programs running in the foreground to have the occasional performance spikes. These problems were countered when adjusting several of the app's features. For example, you may adjust the app's screen resolution, aspect ratio, volume and overall graphics settings. Please note that setting the graphics to "Minimal" will remove all the crystal's transparency and reflection effects.

If you miss the good old days when you were dungeon crawling, but can't spare the time to do it again anymore, then Crystal Fireplace 3D Screensaver may serve as an excellent substitute for that feeling.
