Symmetric Screensaver

Symmetric Screensaver is a small software designed to display colorful shapes on your desktop when your computer is out of use for more than a few minutes. Like any other screensaver, you can easily restore the initial state of the desktop with a simple mouse movement or by pressing a random key.

A screensaver is a small application that is prompted by the system to open when a certain amount of time has passed with no user activity. The purpose of the screensaver is two fold: first, it can prevent the waste of electrical power, by switching your monitor to low usage mode. Secondly, it replaces the screen with a particular image and protect your data from by passers.

The shapes drawn on your screen when the computer is idle look like many circles, in rows, that cross each other. Thus, from afar, it looks as if an X-shape is displayed on your desktop. The shapes vary in height, width or angle, but they remain symmetrical in all circumstances. Moreover, the screen is turned black, while the circles are small and colorful, creating a pleasant contrast.

The application is easily installed on your computer: just right-click on its icon, and select install. You can activate the screensaver from the Personalization section in Control Panel. Select Symmetric Screensaver from the drop down list, then set the number of minutes that need to pass without user activity, for the screensaver to automatically start.

The application does not offer extra options, such as control colors, tempo, size or angle of the shape. Neither can you change the position of the shape or set it to move across the screen.
