If changing the way Windows looks is the thing that keeps you busy these days, have a look at MyColors, a software solution developed by Stardock Corporation designed to help you tweak the way Windows looks.
MyColors can even work on Windows 7, bringing you not only the power to change the theme completely, but also add new wallpapers and apply a bunch of other modifications.
It’s not too difficult to use MyColors because the application boasts a user-friendly interface that organizes the main features in tabs, so you won’t get in trouble while using it.
There is a single theme included in the standard package, but you can also find more online, comprising not only a new visual style, but also wallpapers, sidebar gadgets and new icons.
A pretty handy tool is the option to switch back to the regular Windows look with a single click, because MyColors also comprises the factory-installed settings, which means it’s no problem if you get bored with the new themes.
There are also a few settings available, including ClearType fonts and a dedicated option to use Aero window frames but keep the rest of the skin, so configuration is quite limited.
We haven’t noticed a significant slowdown in speed while using MyColors, but the application could hamper computer performance a little bit when running on older machines.
All in all, it’s a good thing that MyColors is available for free, but it doesn’t bring too many innovative features. Most of the goodies included in this package are already available out there in tens of similar tools…
