We’ve all heard of Webshots, that’s for sure, and although many of us are already using the service through its online interface, a different approach could be made straight from your desktop.

Called Webshots Desktop, the software solution that was specifically designed to do that needs your Webshots username and password to provide not only a powerful photo manager, but also a lot of goodies for your personal computer.

The main purpose of the app is to let your Windows machine enjoy the beauties of Webshots, so besides the photo manager, you can also browse the online galleries, set new wallpapers, upload photos into your account and so on.

Webshots Desktop is full of interesting functions and the one we liked the most during our test was the wallpaper changer that automatically takes photos from an online gallery and sets them as wallpaper on your desktop at a given period of time.

The only issue is that it cannot select images by resolution, so some of them might be stretched or tiled to fit your desktop.

You won’t need a supermachine to run the software, but you may need some time to get used to its interface. There are a lot of buttons everywhere and unless you’re a fan of the application, you might need some time before taking full advantage of its great features.

Power users will be delighted with the rich settings menu, but in case they want even more, almost every single app that’s included in Webshots Desktop comes with its very own options.

All in all, Webshots Desktop is a great tool for those who manage their photos online, but the downside is that some of its features are only available to subscribers, so you’ll have to pay for a license to unlock its full powers.
