Softpedia Editor's Review for Theme Manager

    EDITOR'S RATING:

Choose from hundreds of Windows 7 themes

Written by Bogdan Popa on May 16th, 2012

Taking the most out of Windows 7’s new theme engine is pretty important if you don’t want a boring desktop and Theme Manager can really lend you a hand in this regard.

As its name suggests, this small Windows application gives you full control over the themes installed on the computer, while also comprising dedicated features to download new ones from the Internet.

A tabbed GUI is there to make sure that Theme Manager remains an easy to use application, so you can quickly browse the so-called “Gallery” or view the installed themes.

The aforementioned gallery lets you browse an online theme database and thus download new items with just a click, with a small thumbnail displayed right in the main window of the app. There are multiple categories available, including celebrities, landscape, animals, movies, cars, games and cartoons.

A double-click is all you need to apply a new theme and while this can only be good news for all those who don’t want to waste too much time playing with the app, more experienced users may feel the need for some configurable settings.

Well, no, Theme Manager has absolutely no settings screen, which means that you can’t save your current one or tweak other options of the available themes.

Of course, Theme Manager works on Windows 7 exclusively and the good news is that it doesn’t affect system performance at all, without reboots required as you download and install new themes.

Overall, Theme Manager may be a handy project, but it’s pretty obvious that further enhancements are still needed. It can be safely installed by all user categories, but those more advanced may be a bit disappointed with the lack of settings.
