Pod Player is a freeware Windows utility that allows users to play music straight from their iPods as soon as the Apple devices are connected to their computers.
The application can be safely used by rookies and more experienced users because it relies on a very intuitive interface that perfectly organizes the iPod's music content, while also providing a great tool to play the music on the go.
Once Pod Player detects that a new iPod is connected to the computer, it automatically scans the device and shows its content in a multi-panel interface. You can thus find music by source, genre, artist and album, while songs are listed at the bottom of the main window.
The good thing is that Pod Player comes with a built-in media player, so you can listen to your iPod music on the fly. Additionally, it also shows title, artist, album and genre right in the main window, while providing the common buttons to pause and play the song, jump to the next or previous song.
Additionally, Pod Player comes with a dedicated option to open the iPod content as playlist in an external application, so it's easy to listen to music in your favorite app as well.
Last but not least, the program also includes some other tools, such as a duplicate finder to make sure there are no duplicate songs on the iPod.
Pod Player doesn't seem to load on Windows 7, but it runs smooth on older iterations of Microsoft's operating system, with a reasonable amount of computer resources.
Overall, Pod Player is quite an useful application for all iPod owners, at least when trying to listen to their favorite music without first copying the files on their computers.
