Seamlessly navigate the Internet with the help of this lightweight and distraction-free, Chromium and Electron-based web browser. #Web Browser #Internet Browser #Browse Internet #Internet #Browser #Chromium
At first glance, Lulumi looks, works, and feels like the vast majority of Chromium-based web browser out there, and for the time being, it may very well be just that.
However, Lulumi should be something more in the future - an independent project on top of which its creator aims to create a security framework allowing researchers to access a wide array of web penetration testing tools and various dedicated APIs under a single roof.
In its current form, it's a very lightweight app (by modern browser standards, at least), however, considering the fact that it doesn't pack tons of features, this is to be expected. The browser does not require installation or any type of intervention to get it up and running, and it sports the familiar GUI layout of most Chromium-based projects, with the notable exception of the tabs which are quite large in width.
From the app's menu, you can access the History and Downloads sections, as well as the Preferences menu. You are provided with the possibility of choosing between two of the most common search engine providers (Google or Bing), of changing the homepage, choosing between two PDF Viewers, configuring the opening location for any new tab, and that's basically about it.
It is, by all accounts, a very stripped-down browser, as it doesn't even sport some of the must-have, basic customization features that we usually find in Chromium. However, the browser isn't meant to be another, run-of-the-mill Chromium based projects for day-to-day users.
Instead, it's intended to be a platform for developing security frameworks that should help future web developer run web penetration tests thanks to its specialized tools and dedicated APIs. That said, if the idea behind this project sparks your interest, you can show your support by donating via the Patreon crowdfunding platform.
