Exodus is one of the Jabber clients that promise to offer users exactly the features they love the most about instant messaging applications: a great interface, stability and simple features.
Well, Exodus is indeed a great way to use the Jabber protocol, but don’t expect too much from it.
We’ve tested the app on Windows 7 and it crashes several times, but it did quite OK on our XP testing machine.
But getting straight to its features, Exodus comes with a pretty simple and clean interface, but you still need some knowledge to set up an account.
The program organizes the accounts on “profiles”, so you will have to create a new one or edit the default one to input your username and password. If you’re using another server than the default one, you have to access the advanced tab and write down the server address.
Truth is, Exodus has a pretty user friendly interface once you connect to a server and start chatting.
It does have everything you’d need from a simple Jabber client, but don’t expect too fancy features such as file transfers or avatars. Exodus has been designed to serve as a basic program to chat over the Internet and that’s exactly what it is.
Of course, users who expect an advanced chatting experience will definitely be disappointed by Exodus, but those who like simplicity are actually the main target of the app.
