Hidden Emoticons for Yahoo! Messenger 6
Hidden Emoticons for Yahoo! Messenger 6 has made many IM users happy for that one year from August 2004 to August 2005 while the 6th version of Yahoo's IM chat tool was in effect. The constant request of users for the hidden GIF collection to be somehow embedded into the chat window has been granted and this is how software like this one were created.
A fast and diverse evolution
While recent versions of Yahoo! Messenger include these hidden emoticons by default, back in 2004, everyone using this IM was dying to get them for the simple fact that they were seen as exclusive and even secret content that not many knew about.
Since the first graphical representation of a facial expression ever recorded within typed text (using a computer keyboard) on 19th of September 1982 (Scott Fahlman of Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States), emoticons have continuously evolved into vital components of any instant messaging chat. It all started with ':-)' and ':-(' and quickly turned into a phenomena.
Enrich your emoticons collection
For starters, Hidden Emoticons for Yahoo! Messenger 6 does not feature a GUI. You just install it and then run the executable file in order to turn the original Yahoo! Messenger emoticon button into a host for all the available smileys including the hidden ones separated by a vertical line. These consist of animal faces (pig, cow, monkey, chicken), a rose, a shamrock, the US flag, a Halloween pumpkin lantern or a coffee cup. They also include many other facial expressions such as giggles or praise.
As soon as you click on any of them, the emoticon is inserted within the position of the cursor. The 'AS' (auto-send) option can be activated to send the whole message adding the emoticon when clicking on it. You can also exit Hidden Emoticons for Yahoo! Messenger 6 by right clicking on any hidden emoticon and selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu.
This piece of software is a great addition to Yahoo! Messenger 6 for anyone that dreamed of having all those hidden emoticons at the tip of their fingers right in the conversation window. The biggest problem, though, is that it only works for a specific version of the messenger that has been left in the past for more than a few years now.
