Welcome communication in your team and stay in touch with your gaming buddies as you play for increased chances of success with this powerful and handy app

editor's review

Video game enthusiasts that fully experience a game in singleplayer mode might want to test their skill online against others. When it comes to team-based matches, communication is an important aspect to consider. Xfire is an application specially designed to allow you and your buddies to stay in touch while competing or playing various games together.

Modern design and easy to use

The main window is designed as a common instant messaging applications, with most of the space being taken by the contacts list, a customizable user profile with pictures and status messages, as well as options to start conversations with one individual or groups.

Main features are organized in tabs, the contacts list being home to functions mentioned above. In addition, the application automatically scans your computer for installed games, enlisting them in a dedicated tab. You can easily have them launched from there and even view statistics online.

What's more, videos and screenshots taken while playing a game are stored and can easily be accessed from the application's main window.

Multiple settings to work with

Opening the settings menu gives you access to a large variety of options to mess with. Besides general properties, like enabling the application to run at startup, you can tweak settings that enable in-game use of Xfire. Amongst these settings, you can manage the way your microphone activates, either at the press of a button or when sound is detected, or even set up live broadcasting.

Clever hotkey support

An important feature is the integrated hotkey support. You can assign any two key combinations for nearly all available functions that can either be recording activity, start broadcasting or answer an incoming call. However, only two keys can be used in a combination and you might accidentally configure one that is also used in a game.

In conclusion

All things considered, Xfire manages to fully live up to expectations and offers various tools to work with. It performs flawlessly due to the low resource consumption while the intuitive interface makes it easy to use. If you're looking for something to boost efficiency in your team, this application might just be it.
