s!mpL3 LAN Messenger allows users from the same LAN to communicate to each other using a user-friendly application. It works as a LAN messaging client, enabling you to connect to any computer inside your network and send it messages.

The application reads your computer's external and internal IP address and enables you to easily initiate a connection. A newly connected workstation is automatically detected and displayed within the main window, in tree view. s!mpL3 LAN Messenger shows you the computer name, followed by the local IP address.

To start a conversation, all you have to do is double-click on the desired workstation. The chat window has a minimalistic aspect, comprising the input area and the logging pane, which contains the entire conversation. You can send your interlocutor text messages and shake the window to catch their attention.

By default, your username is the same as the computer's name, but you can easily modify this setting and enter any name you want. Other configuration options enable you to change the auto-refresh time interval, change the language or activate chat logging.

s!mpL3 LAN Messenger features customizable conversation sounds, as well as audio and popup notifications to let you know about important events. For instance, it notifies you when a new user is available or when you receive new messages.

Much like other similar applications, s!mpL3 LAN Messenger allows you to perform file transfers. At the same time, it provides you with a series of fairly advanced security features. As such, you can encrypt the chat sessions so that no other user can intercept your messages.

s!mpL3 LAN Messenger is very easy to configure, without requiring advanced knowledge in the field. Its file sharing capabilities certainly add to its value, making it more than a simple method to communicate with other users in the same LAN.
