Softpedia Editor's Review for Improved Video Downloader
|
Detects a video in a browser, and downloads it to AVI, MP3, 3GP or FLV.
Written by Bogdan Popa on May 4th, 2012
Improved Video Downloader is a very easy to use software solution that helps you download online video clips loaded in any Windows web browser.
While most similar applications rely on stand-alone interfaces that require users to input video URLs to launch a download, Improved Video Downloader adopted a different approach that could lend a hand to a lot of users.
It places an icon in the Windows System Tray and once you open a video in your browser, be it Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or any other, it allows you to start a download in a matter of seconds.
What’s more, it can automatically convert the clip to many popular formats, including AVI, MP3, MP4, AAC, 3GP and FLV.
The most popular video sharing services out there, including YouTube and DailyMotion, are obviously supported, with Improved Video Downloader even showing separate download links for different video resolutions, thus letting you choose the one you want.
The only problem seems to be the overall download speed which is quite low, regardless of your network connection.
In most cases, Improved Video Downloader remains very friendly with hardware resources and doesn’t affect system performance at all, so we didn’t experience any slowdowns during our testing.
All in all, Improved Video Downloader is indeed a handy product and with a few improvements to become a bit faster, it could easily become one of the best apps of its kind. It’s still a good thing that it’s free and it works flawlessly on all Windows versions.
