Star Downloader Pro is a full-featured download manager that promises to increase transfer speed by splitting the requested files in multiple segments.
While the interface isn't the best we've seen, still managing to do its job fairly easy, the amount of features hidden underneath the hood is indeed remarkable, offering all the tools you'd expect from a powerful download manager.
Star Downloader Pro supports resuming, which means you can easily resume a download in case of interruptions, while a separate scheduler enables you to start downloads at a later date and perform various tasks once they come to an end.
Additionally, Star Downloader Pro can download files from both FTP and HTTP servers, while also offering proxy support through very intuitive options.
Another good thing about the application is that also offers browser integration, being able to work with the most popular browsers out there, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera. Last but not least, it can monitor URLs in the clipboard and automatically start a new download once you copy a link to clipboard.
Performance can also be controlled by limiting the maximum number of simultaneous downloads or the number of parts to split each file into.
Although it offers so many useful features, Star Downloader Pro remains a friendly application when it comes to the hardware resources it needs to work properly. It runs smoothly on all Windows versions.
All in all, Star Downloader Pro is one of the best download managers on the market, offering a clean interface and an important number of features. It doesn't boost download speed so much, but it definitely gives you full control over the files you download.
