A handy utility that eases the management of email attachments and more
Affixa makes your webmail account part of Windows. It makes gathering and preparing the files you want to send easy. Affixa gives you the choice of which web or desktop mail system you use and when. All the features available in Windows that were once only available to your desktop mail-using friends are now available to everyone!
Many applications have the built-in capability to send emails. For example, you can send a document from Microsoft Word, a PDF from Adobe Acrobat, or photos from Windows Explorer. The problem is that these don't work with web-based email, including Gmail or Yahoo! Mail.
Affixa allows you to easily attach files to new messages in any of these webmail systems. Oh, and it handles "mailto"s too, so when you click on an email address, you can choose which mail account to use. Here are some key features of "Affixa":
Gmail integration with Windows:
· Use Affixa to send emails with or without attachments from almost any Windows application, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and more.
· Google Apps isn't a second class citizen with Affixa. Simply tell Affixa your domain name and you're done!
Yahoo! Mail integration with Windows:
· Use Affixa to send emails with or without attachments from almost any Windows application, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and more.
Handles Email "mailto" Links:
· Works system-wide! Not just in Firefox. In the subscription version of the software you can route your mailto clicks through to the account of your choice.
· Single Account Usage Our basic offering. Choose to create a single Gmail, Yahoo! Mail or Desktop mail account.
Attachment baskets:
· Gather your attachments into one or more baskets. Save a basket if you want to use it again.
Desktop Email - including Outlook, Thunderbird and more:
· Affixa works with any desktop mail application, including favourites such as Oulook, Thunderbird, Outlook Express or Windows Mail.
Automatic detection of problem attachments:
· Some files, such as executables or those over a certain size, cannot be sent as attachments. Affixa will warn you when this is the case.
· Use custom names to identify accounts Call your email accounts by names that mean something to you, not to your email provider.
Drop.io Integration:
· Drop.io integration for large or problem attachments. Or use it for all your attachments!
Multiple Accounts:
· Choose the email account that's most appropriate to your need: work, play, etc.
Signature support for Gmail and Yahoo! Mail:
· The items you send using Affixa will pick up your regular Gmail or Yahoo! Mail signature.
Choose your web browser:
· Choose to launch your default web browser with Gmail or Yahoo! Mail, or pick a different web browser for each account.
Zip files from your Attachment Basket:
· Choose to compress your files when attaching them to your message. Your original files are unaffected.
Resize your photos from your Attachment Basket:
· Shrink your photos to email-friendly sizes. Your original files are unaffected.
Automatic Recipient Inclusion:
· Automatically include "to", "CC" or "BCC" recipients on any message sent. Handy if you're always blind-copying messages to a CRM such as Highrise, for example.
