What's the point of having an e-mail account if you have to check it every 5 minutes? Have you ever stopped to think how much time you spend checking your e-mail account when there's nothing there?
Gmail Notifier intends to relieve you of that stress, by automatically sending you a message on your desktop every time you have a new e-mail.
This is how Gmail Notifier works: you download it and install it. At every system start-up you must input your Google account information into the Notifier, and an icon (a white letter) will appear in your system tray.
Every time you receive a new e-mail, the icon will turn blue and a message will appear for a few seconds. Moreover, you can add a sound of your choosing.
So if you're not at the computer at the moment, you can rather check the small blue icon in the bottom right corner than go to your Google account for the millionth time that day.
New messages are checked every two minutes, and you can visualize up to 30 of them.
One small inconvenience about Gmail Notifier is that, if you see the blue icon but choose to manually go to your Google account rather can click "View Inbox", then the blue icon doesn't change until you restart the Notifier.
So, this means that after you have already checked your Google account the traditional way, the Notifier will seem to have new messages for you, even if the mail box is empty.
In addition, Gmail Notifier seems to interfere with certain internet connections, and simply refuses to connect online at some times.
But to be fair, Gmail Notifier still is a great way to organize your time while waiting for an important e-mail on your Google account.
