BearShare is a file-sharing software solution that is aimed at users who want to exchange files over the Internet, but, in the same, it also offers some other goodies to help you in this regard.
Although it was designed as a way to share files on the Internet, BearShare comprises several other important tools, including a powerful search engine, a media player and instant messaging functions to talk to the other connected users.
Getting BearShare to run requires a bit of extra attention because in order to fully enjoy all the features and download all types of files, you're going to have to register an account.
Even though the interface looks pretty good, it might seem a bit difficult to work with at first. Nonetheless, it's only a matter of time because it will take you only a few minutes to get accustomed with this program.
If you’re looking for an audio or video file, you have the option to play it using the built-in media player which has the controls are conveniently placed right in the main window. There’s a search button at the top of the screen, while the results are displayed up-front, in order for you to choose the ones you download.
BearShare can prove fairly handy as well when it comes to managing multimedia files. It enables you to organize the videos and songs from the media library and also track purchased content via a dedicated area in the main window.
The application thus provides many other tools, including bandwidth and parental controls, chatting utilities, file lists download, automatic resume and an advanced search feature.
All things considered, if you're looking for a means of accessing a P2P sharing network that allows users to download and make available to each other loads of files, BearShare definitely fits the bill.
