Facebook Chat Privacy for Chrome

Facebook has been around for a while now, and managed to build quite the reputation. Different features got tested and implemented over the years, some of which might not really appeal to everyone. As such, Facebook Chat Privacy for Chrome comes as a small browser extension which disables several potentially annoying notifications.

Just as the name clearly points out, this extension is dedicated to Google Chrome, so it needs to be installed on the target computer first. More than this, the extension can only be added through the specific web browser. It integrates itself right away, without the need to restart the browser.

An associated icon is added next to the URL field. The core feature is enabled by default, but the state of it can be toggled at the press of a button through the dedicated icon. The state instantly changes and directly affects the target notifications. No extra credentials or permissions are required to make it work.

The extension directly targets chat sessions and messages. They’re not modified, but the interlocutor no longer receives the “seen” status update, even if you did happen to read the message. Moreover, it also disables the “is typing” notification in your own chat box. These notifications are displayed again when the extension is disabled.
