Aviary Tools is a Firefox add-on developed to help users capture webpages in several ways, save them locally or edit them online.
It comes packed with an intuitive set of options that can be figured out by anyone, even by users with no previous experience in such tools.
Once installed, Aviary Tools creates a button next to the search engine bar. So, you can capture a region on the page, whole visible portion, or the entire page.
It is possible to save the picture to the desktop by specifying the output directory and file name. The only supported format is PNG. Alternatively, you can copy the picture to the Clipboard.
Aviary Tools also integrates options for uploading images to Aviary.com as well as for editing them on the same website. However, it supports only older Firefox editions which cannot log into the Aviary website; file uploading attempts failed during our tests.
The small extension does not slow down Firefox's performance, since it runs on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. It did not cause the web browser to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs throughout our evaluation.
Unfortunately, the add-on has not been updated for a very long time, and it does not support later Firefox editions. Other than that, it can be easily used, thanks to its overall simplicity.
