RequestPolicy

RequestPolicy is an extension designed for Mozilla Firefox designed to help you manage the policy requests more efficiently while preventing cross-site request forgeries at the same time.

Considering it is an add-on, the installation is a quick process that can be completed after you restart Firefox. You can access the extension from the upper right corner and manage the requests for the websites that you are accessing. The utility displays the current requests but lets you decide the ones you want to allow temporary or block.

Upon launch, the tool prompts you to select the websites that you want to add to your whitelist from an extensive list. As indicated in the initial setup window, the sites listed involve requests between site owned by the same company. Adding them to your list can have a lesser impact on your browsing experience without affecting your privacy or security.

Given the nature of the tool, it goes without saying that navigating the web can be slightly cumbersome until you add the sites you commonly access to the whitelist. The idea behind the extension is to provide you with notifications when false requests are made and the ones that are blocked.

It is worth mentioning that you can whitelist requests you approve by origin website, destination site or specific origin-to-destination. At the same time, you can configure the level of strictness the tool should operate, from allowing the base domain to adding the full address.

In case you want to add the extension to other computers, then you will be happy to learn that you can import and export the lists featuring the origin, destination and origin-to-destination. The list does not contain anything that you only allowed temporarily, but rather the permanent requests.
