FM Live 2.0

FM Live is a freeware Windows tool developed to help you listen to your favorite online radio stations with minimum effort.

The application greets its users with a pretty eye-candy interface that provides one-click access to all of its radio stations, while also allowing them to record the content they’re listening to in WAV format.

The main window of the program is being used to show the available radio stations, organized by country, and the common controls for playing, stopping, next or previous station.

While it’s great to get a long list of channels organized by country, many important stations are missing from the database and, unfortunately, there’s not even a dedicated tool to add new ones.

FM Live doesn’t allow its users to introduce new radio stations in the database, so you’re stuck with the standard items. In addition, there’s no bookmark manager to save your favorite stations, so you have to manually browse the entire collection every time you wish to listen to a certain station.

On the other hand, listening to a certain station and recording the content is as easy as pie. FM Live uses the WAV format for the output file which can be stored anywhere on your local disks.

There are no configuration settings to play with, and although that may be good news for beginners, it’s quite a disappointment for more advanced users.

On the other hand, FM Live works flawlessly on all Windows versions and doesn’t hamper system performance at all, thus becoming a decent way to listen to your favorite online radio station with just a few clicks.

Update: a new version of FM Live has been released, bringing a couple of useful features that enhance the overall experience offered by the app and therefore improves its overall rating.

FM Live now comprises a bookmark tool that does exactly what its name suggests: it gives you the option to save a preferred channel to a dedicated “Favorites” menu and access it with no fuss. What’s more, a bookmark manager is also available, showing all your favorite stations and allowing you to remove or connect to an entry with just one click.

A so-called “Custom Channel” screen gives you access to your very own stations because yes, FM Live now allows its users to add new stations to the database. Only minimum information is required, including channel name, frequency and URL.
