When it comes to listening to your favorite tunes using Google's vetted music and radio streaming service, the most obvious choice might seem to have the online player opened in one of your browser's tabs.

Of course, this is not to say that this is the best option, since finding the particular tab at times when others are also laying around can be a bit counterproductive, not to mention the whole resource consumption problem usually involved when it comes to browsers and powerful online players.

With a self-explanatory name, Google Play Music Desktop Player is cross-platform standalone application that offers all the benefits of the official online Google Music Player and even more, directly on your computer's desktop.

The app undergoes a typical installation process and comes with a stylish and very responsive user interface. It is not all about looks though, since it should not take too long until you realize that this is a very well thought app.

Finding your way around the utility comes almost natural since every feature is perfectly located and all the controls always feels within arm's reach.

You will also be happy to hear that the program also comes with HTML5 Audio support, which means that you do not have to rely on Adobe Flash Player.

It comes with modern features like desktop notifications on track changes, Last.FM scrobbling, built-in audio equalizer and task bar integration.

You should also know that you can take advantage of the taskbar media controls for playing, pausing, stopping and skipping tunes. Also noteworthy is the fact that you can assign custom hotkeys.

Last but not least, the app bundles a minimalist and quite customizable mini player that is bound to make your experience with this app a whole lot better.

Google Play Music Desktop Player is a neat and useful cross-platform app, with a fresh look and feel, that not only enables you to listen Google Play Music from the comfort of your computer's desktop, but it also offers enhanced control and a lot of customization options.
