Softpedia Editor's Review for WebCopier
|
Use this powerful offline browser to record websites and store them locally until you are ready to view them
Written by Bogdan Popa on April 2nd, 2012
WebCopier is an advanced application designed to help you download entire websites on your local disks and access the files without an Internet connection.
It does sound like a more difficult task and it really is, so it's highly recommended to have a look in the help manual as well.
Truth is, developers have tried to make the program as user friendly as possible, so they adopted the famous Microsoft Ribbon interface for a better organized main window.
With support for proxy servers, WebCopier can download either a whole website or only a part of it, depending on the user settings. In addition, it can even work with password protected websites, so it provides dedicated options to input usernames and passwords, while also offering SSL support, templates, URL and file filters.
A scheduler is also available to automatically begin the download at a later time, as well as support for JavaScript, Java Classes and Macromedia Flash files.
While it can even import Internet Explorer bookmarks for on-the-go downloads, WebCopier shows a great amount of information concerning the current downloads, including the number of found and processed files, speed and total size.
WebCopier works flawlessly on all Windows versions, but keep in mind that the overall time needed to complete a download task also depends on the size of the website and the project configuration. Plus, the faster the Internet connection is, the quicker the download is completed.
All things considered, WebCopier is an excellent application to download websites and access them without an Internet connection. It provides a wizard to easily configure new projects and a great amount of information to give you full control over the download tasks.
