Picasa Grabber is a tiny and portable Windows app designed to download full albums from Picasa Web Albums based on their RSS URLs.
It does not include complex options or configuration parameters, making the app accessible to all kinds of users, even the ones with no previous experience with computer software.
Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run.
There is also the possibility to save a copy of Picasa Grabber to a mass storage device, thus enabling you to use it on any workstation with minimum effort and no previous installers.
What's more, the app does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu, leaving no traces behind after its removal.
Simple and intuitive interface
The user-friendly interface consists of a single, small window that shows all main options. All you have to do is paste the album RSS URL into the dedicated box, point out the saving directory, and click a button to start the downloading job. There are no other notable features available here.
Performance and conclusion
The app is low-demanding when it comes to CPU and memory, so it does not hog system resources. However, it failed to download multiple albums during our evaluation. The output directory was empty, although Picasa Grabber did not signal any errors. We must also take into account that it has not been updated for a long time. Users should resort to a more reliable application for downloading Picasa albums.
