Softpedia Editor's Review for WeatherEye
|
This application is a handy weather program
Written by Bogdan Popa on August 29th, 2012
WeatherEye is a desktop weather application that shows you the current conditions for any selected location.
Similar to many other products in this software category, users are required to complete a wizard before getting the first weather forecast.
You have to input the location and pick between imperial or metric units for the displayed temperatures.
Once you complete this wizard and you're ready to use the app, WeatherEye launches a tab-based GUI that provides access not only to the current weather conditions, but also to a 5-day forecast, hourly updates, 14-day trend, satellite and radar graphs and local photos.
Aside from the advertisements displayed in the main window, WeatherEye is quite an eye-appealing program, with a clean layout especially focused on weather conditions.
There are no other configuration screens, except for the aforementioned ones that let you choose between metric and imperial units and change or add a new location.
An Internet connection is obviously needed to retrieve weather updates for the selected cities, but otherwise WeatherEye doesn't have any special hardware requirements. The application works smoothly on most Windows workstations and it's very unlikely to produce major slowdowns.
To sum up, WeatherEye is indeed a helpful product, although some users may expect a lot more features. It doesn't display the weather in the Tray icon, you cannot configure weather updates and notifications and the GUI is full of ads. A help manual is indeed included in the package, but it cannot be loaded on Windows 7 workstations.
