YouTube Desktop

YouTube is probably one of the most trafficked websites on the Internet, with viewers gathering in the millions to watch the latest music videos, cat videos or tutorials.  Regardless of what you are watching, you can't deny that having to visit YouTube through some of the standard browsers can be a bit of a hassle, especially if you think the browser you're using is insecure. That is where YouTube Desktop comes into play, as it is nothing more than a browserless alternative towards Youtube, with pretty much all of the features of the original versions.

The app's setup process is unnoticeable since it is very fast, and the desktop shortcut created becomes a means for you to be just a click away from youtube. While the exact principle of how this app works there is no doubt that it does have some advantages compared to the browser version of the website.

One of the great perks of this tool is that it doesn't seem to allow those pesky video adds to pop up. Whether this is on purpose or one of the benefits of not being a browser-based access point is unknown. However, normal ads still appear. By default, the program launches the YouTube homepage for you, although you have the option of connecting to your created YouTube account, thus allowing you to use this app as a gateway towards your channel fast and efficiently. One downside of this app is that manually searching for videos through the search bar will usually end up in an error message being displayed. As such you are limited to viewing videos that come in automatically through YouTube's auto-playlist feature.

Although dated, YouTube Desktop is still compatible with today's version of YouTube, making it an excellent means of enjoying YouTube videos when you think your browser is more of a liability.
